Just five kilometres from our chalet in Entremont lies Le Grand-Bornand, one of the most authentic mountain villages of the Aravis. The village is known for its more than 400 traditional chalets, its convivial atmosphere and the annual Biathlon World Cup.

A village of 400 chalets

Le Grand-Bornand has more than 400 authentic wooden chalets, some of them more than two centuries old. It is a living open-air museum of alpine architecture, beautifully spread across the green valley and the slopes.

The village centre and the market

The cosy centre has a church, shops and restaurants, and at the weekly market you will find Reblochon, charcuterie and regional produce. The atmosphere is warm and village-like, without the crowds of large ski resorts.

Ski area and Le Chinaillon

The higher-lying hamlet of Le Chinaillon forms the gateway to the ski area, with around 90 kilometres of piste. In winter Le Grand-Bornand is a family-friendly base for winter sports in the Aravis.

The Biathlon World Cup

Every year in December Le Grand-Bornand hosts a round of the Biathlon World Cup. The event draws thousands of spectators and puts the village on the international map.

In the heart of Reblochon country

Le Grand-Bornand lies right in the middle of Reblochon country. In and around the village you will find farms where the artisanal cheese is made, and in summer the cows graze in the surrounding mountain pastures.
