Chamonix and Mont Blanc
At the foot of the highest mountain in the Alps: Aiguille du Midi, Mer de Glace and the lively town of Chamonix.

A day trip to Chamonix, at the foot of Mont Blanc, takes a little over an hour from our chalet in Entremont. Chamonix is the cradle of mountaineering and one of the most impressive mountain destinations in the world: here the highest peak in the Alps, the 4,808-metre Mont Blanc, towers above the valley.
At the foot of the highest mountain in the Alps
The mountain town of Chamonix lies in a spectacular valley, surrounded by glaciers, rock faces and snow-capped summits. The combination of wild nature and a lively centre makes it a destination both for adventurers and for those who simply want to enjoy the view.
The Aiguille du Midi
The cable car to the Aiguille du Midi whisks you up to an altitude of 3,842 metres in just a few minutes. At the top you are rewarded with a 360-degree panorama of Mont Blanc and the Alps. Dare to step into 'Le Pas dans le Vide', a glass box suspended over the abyss — an unforgettable experience.
The Mer de Glace
The historic little red rack railway to Montenvers takes you to the Mer de Glace, the largest glacier in France. You can descend to the ice cave that is carved out afresh every year, and along the way you learn about the power — and the retreat — of the ice.
The town of Chamonix
The centre of Chamonix buzzes with café terraces, mountain-sports shops and restaurants. Statues recall the pioneers who were the first to climb Mont Blanc. It's a great place to unwind after a day in the mountains.
Hiking and mountain sports
Around Chamonix there are countless hiking routes, from gentle valley paths to demanding treks with glacier views. Climbers, mountain bikers and paragliders find a true playground here. Lovers of mountain passes drive towards the valley via the cols of the Aravis.
Chamonix from Entremont
Although it lies a little further away, Chamonix is more than worth a day trip. Combine it with the summer splendour of the Massif des Aravis and return in the evening to the chalet. Check the available dates.
